Victoria started Pilates with us in September of this year. For her first session, Victoria came in with a big smile and an open mind. I could see the twinkle in her eye, that spark of “I think I just discovered something amazing”. Fast forward two months and it’s official, Victoria is hooked. Victoria has made it a priority to grab sessions we offer and manage her schedule so she can be in the studio and progressing with her Pilates practice. And indeed Victoria has been making great progress.
I asked Victoria a few questions about her Pilates experience, and here is what she had to share.
What motivated you to start Pilates?
I’m always working toward being my healthiest self. The past few years have been challenging as it pertains to my health and wellness, and I realized that I really needed to take an even more holistic approach and incorporate various forms of movement. After evaluating my needs and with some encouragement from a few associates, I decided to start my Pilates journey. Once I started attending classes, I recalled my mother having a reformer at home some years ago. She’s always been a fitness enthusiast, but I never really understood the full benefits of Pilates at that time. Fast forward to my own practice, and I now completely understand.
What were your goals when you started Pilates?
My goals were to improve my posture and my flexibility. I also wanted to add something to my fitness routine that was rigorous but low impact to compliment my strength training.
What have you been pleasantly surprised about in your Pilates practice?
I have been pleasantly surprised at how quickly I have seen progress. Some movements that were difficult for me the very beginning are starting to become second nature. Also, I have found almost immediate improvement in my posture – both in other workouts and in my day to day activities.
What keeps you going with your Pilates practice?
I really appreciate the care and experience that my instructors have. I also think it is a great way to channel physical and emotional stress.
What is your favorite Pilates exercise and/or apparatus?
My favorite apparatus is the Wunda/Pilates chair. I love how you can easily work your entire body. Also, one of my favorite moves is the mermaid stretch using this apparatus.
Thank you Victoria for sharing your enthusiasm and inspiration with us. We look forward to sharing many more Wundaful Pilates moments with you.
